JioCinema Premium Annual Plan Silently Launched in India at This Price
New Delhi: JioCinema has quietly launched its Premium annual plan, following the introduction of a monthly subscription plan a month ago. The Viacom18-owned streaming service’s new annual plan offers access to videos in up to 4K resolution without advertisements, except for sports and live events. This annual plan is priced lower than similar offerings from rival services and the original, now-discontinued premium plan. Additionally, an introductory offer reduces the price of the new annual subscription by 50 percent, making it an even more attractive option for users.
JioCinema has confirmed the launch of its new Premium Annual plan, now available on the JioCinema website for Rs. 599. As part of an introductory offer, customers can avail of a 50 percent discount, reducing the subscription price to Rs. 299 for the first year. After the initial 12-month billing cycle, the platform will charge users the full amount. The JioCinema Premium Annual plan offers the same benefits as the monthly plan, including ad-free streaming of videos, premium content from HBO, Paramount, Peacock, and Warner Bros., all in 4K resolution on one device. Users can also download and watch content offline. While all three streaming plans will offer ad-free streaming, advertisements will still be present during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament and other sports and live events.
At the introductory price of Rs. 299, the Premium Annual plan provides better value for money compared to the Premium Monthly plan, which renews at Rs. 59 per month. This new plan is also significantly cheaper than the previous annual subscription, which was priced at Rs. 999 and discontinued last month. Last month, JioCinema introduced a Premium Family subscription at Rs. 149, with an introductory offer reducing the price to Rs. 89 for the first month. There is currently no information on whether the company plans to launch an annual version of the Premium Family subscription plan. Even at Rs. 59, JioCinema’s monthly subscription is still cheaper than Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, and Amazon Prime Video. A mobile-only Netflix plan starts at Rs. 149 a month, both Disney+ Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video charge customers a monthly subscription fee of Rs. 299, while the annual cost of both streaming services is Rs. 1,499.
