Land Rover Defender Octa global debut on July 3
New Delhi: As JLR prepares for the debut of its first electric Range Rover, it is also gearing up to reveal the most extreme V8-powered 4×4 it has yet produced. The Defender Octa will be revealed on July 3 as a highly exclusive and extremely capable super-off-roader, which is set to use the twin-turbocharged, mild-hybrid 4.4-litre V8 from BMW, as deployed in the X5 M and X6 M SUVs.
Jaguar Land Rover has unveiled details of the forthcoming Octa, set to be the most extreme Defender variant yet. With an extensive test program encompassing various challenging terrains, including the Nordschleife, Swedish ice, and off-road trails in Dubai and Utah, the Octa promises unparalleled capability. The vehicle’s introduction will be accompanied by seven global ‘Defender Elements’ preview events, although pricing details remain undisclosed.
Distinguished by the Octa badge, signifying the pinnacle of the Defender lineup, the vehicle draws inspiration from the octahedron shape of a diamond, symbolizing both durability and exclusivity. Technical specifications reveal the adoption of a twin-turbocharged V8 engine, sourced from BMW and delivering exceptional performance comparable to Range Rover models. Additionally, the Octa features the ‘6D Dynamic’ suspension system from the Range Rover Sport SV, ensuring optimal off-road capability without compromising on-road comfort.
Bespoke Brembo brakes further underscore the Octa’s focus on performance, while the distinctive Octa diamond logo adorns various components, including the steering wheel and side-pannier mounts. With these details, Jaguar Land Rover sets the stage for the Octa’s debut, promising a blend of rugged capability and refined performance in the off-road segment.
