Mercedes-Benz Sets New Sales Milestone, Becomes the Undisputed Leader of Luxury Cars in India

New Delhi: Mercedes-Benz strengthens its SUV portfolio with the launch of the New GLS, featuring luxurious Mercedes-Maybach-inspired trim and interior elements. As part of Mercedes-Benz India’s aggressive product offensive, they have planned over 12 new launches for 2024, emphasizing Top-End Vehicles (TEVs) and introducing three new Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs). To support these endeavors, an additional investment of €22 million (Rs. 200 crores) is allocated for manufacturing operations, new product start-ups, and digitization of manufacturing processes. This investment brings Mercedes-Benz India’s cumulative investment to over INR 3000 crores, marking their 30 years of establishing a strong foothold in the Indian market.

Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India told:

“There is an immense desire for Mercedes-Benz brand, driven by superior products, introduction of Top-End Vehicles (TEV), elevated customer experiences, and customized solutions developed specifically for the Indian market. All these have resulted in our ‘best year ever’ not only in terms of sales but also drastic improvement in customer satisfaction parameters.”

“In 2024 Mercedes-Benz accomplishes an important milestone of 30 years of operations in India. We are proud of our strong roots, brand heritage, and deep commitment to the Indian market. We will continue to redefine future of mobility in the digital age with ‘DESIRE to Exceed’ as our 2024 motto, striving to exceed in customer experiences, service offerings, new product introductions, and driving sustainability.”

The New GLS showcases elegant design updates including a redesigned front apron and radiator grille. Inside, the fifth-generation multifunction steering wheel from the S-Class offers capacitive touch controls, while the MBUX multimedia system features the latest NTG 7 software generation and a refreshed user interface.

Under the hood, the modern six-cylinder engines of the New GLS come with ISG (Integrated Starter Generator) technology, delivering additional power and torque when required. The diesel engine variant (OM 656 M) sets benchmarks in terms of vehicle dynamics and efficiency. The petrol engine variant (M 256 M) combines improved power and torque with the smoothness of a six-cylinder in-line petrol engine.

Impressive features of the New GLS include the Transparent Bonnet, providing a virtual view of the area directly in front of the vehicle during off-road driving, and new paint finishes like Sodalite blue, High-tech Silver, and Selenite Grey. The cabin offers a serene ambiance with laminated sound insulation glass, while rear-seat occupants enjoy the same comprehensive infotainment and comfort features as those in the front, including the MBUX Multi-Seat Entertainment system and a Burmester® surround sound system.

The launch of the New GLS reaffirms Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to luxury, performance, and innovation. With a focused product offensive and substantial investments, Mercedes-Benz India aims to lead the premium automotive segment, delivering exceptional experiences to customers across the nation.
