Ola Patents Removable Battery Technology for Future E-Scooters
New Delhi: After uncovering design patents for new electric bikes, they have discovered a design patent for a removable electric battery from Ola Electric. This battery seems to be patented for use on an electric vehicle, but it won’t be restricted to just two-wheelers as Ola is working on electric rickshaws too.
Ola removable battery patented: what could it power?
Ola has recently patented a removable battery technology, marking a potential shift in the landscape of electric mobility in India. While prominent Indian electric scooter manufacturers like Ather, TVS, Bajaj, and even Ola itself have yet to offer products with removable batteries, Hero-owned Vida stands out as the sole player in this regard, with its V1 models featuring this innovative feature. The development gains significance in light of Ola’s acquisition of Dutch startup Etergo, which led to the re-engineering of the AppScooter and the abandonment of its removable battery setup. However, with Ola’s firm establishment in the Indian market, the company appears to be revisiting the idea of removable batteries. Ola’s ambitions extend beyond electric scooters, encompassing electric motorbikes, cars, and rickshaws. While the specific application of the removable battery technology remains speculative, lighter two-wheelers and three-wheelers seem to be the more probable candidates compared to Ola Electric’s car ventures. This strategic move underscores Ola’s commitment to innovation and its pursuit of sustainable mobility solutions, potentially heralding a new era in the Indian electric vehicle market. As developments unfold, the industry awaits with anticipation to see how Ola integrates this groundbreaking technology into its diverse portfolio of electric vehicles.
