  • Administrative arrangement with Prayagraj Mela Authority to enhance public convenience
  • Focus on last-mile connectivity and temporary employment for local youth during Magh Mela

Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh | December 24, 2025 – Rapido, India’s leading ride-sharing platform, has signed
a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Prayagraj Mela Authority to support public
convenience and enhance mobility during Magh Mela 2026, scheduled to be held from January 1 to
February 16, 2026.

Under the partnership, Rapido will be the official mobility partner for the Mela and establish a fully
staffed local support office in Prayagraj. The office will oversee on-ground coordination, provide
operational assistance, liaise closely with the Prayagraj Mela Authority, and ensure timely resolution of
issues throughout the Mela period.

The MoU is an administrative arrangement aimed at addressing transportation challenges during Magh
Mela, which attracts lakhs of pilgrims and visitors from across Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring states.
Through this collaboration, Rapido will enable efficient last-mile connectivity in and around the city,
making travel more convenient for devotees, residents, and visitors during the Mela.
The event was graced by Smt Saumya Agarwal, Divisional Commissioner, Prayagraj Division, as the Chief
Guest. The MoU signing ceremony was attended by senior officials including Manish Kumar Verma,
District Magistrate, Prayagraj; Rishi Raj, Mela Adhikari; and Seelam Sai Teja, City Magistrate, Prayagraj.
As part of this initiative, Rapido plans to onboard around 5,000 captains from Prayagraj and surrounding
districts, creating temporary livelihood and earning opportunities for local youth during the Mela season.
The initiative is expected to benefit individuals from nearby districts Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh,
Fatehpur, Bara, Handia, Karchhana, Koraon, and Phulpur, thereby supporting local employment during a
period of significantly high demand.
Commenting on the collaboration, Tanvi Arora, Senior Manager, Legal and Compliance said, “Magh
Mela is one of the most significant religious gatherings in Uttar Pradesh. Our collaboration with the
Prayagraj Mela Authority is aimed at supporting public convenience by offering reliable and affordable
mobility solutions, while also creating earning opportunities for local youth during this period.”
Under the arrangement, Rapido services will be available across high-footfall areas, major transit points,
and key Mela zones, helping reduce congestion and improve accessibility. Rapido will also conduct
captain onboarding, app usage, safety, and quality training, and deploy dedicated manpower at on-
ground booths to assist visitors and ensure smooth travel operations. Additionally, captains will be
equipped with Rapido-branded jackets, helmets, and bike stickers for easy identification, enhanced
safety, and seamless operational coordination.
Rishi Raj, Mela Adhikari said, “Such collaborations play an important role in managing mobility during
large-scale events like Magh Mela and help ensure better convenience for visitors while supporting the
local community.”
