Samsung Galaxy S26 Series; Expected to Feature 2nm Exynos 2600 Chipset

New Delhi: Samsung is reportedly gearing up to introduce the Galaxy S26 series within the next two years, featuring a cutting-edge 2nm chip, as per an ETNews report. The South Korean tech giant is said to be in the development phase of a 2nm Exynos chip, potentially slated for mass production in the latter half of 2025. Notably, Samsung has yet to debut a smartphone with a 3nm Exynos chip, with its current Galaxy S24 lineup powered by 4nm Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chips in varying markets.

According to the ETNews report, Samsung’s forthcoming 2nm chip, codenamed ‘Thetis’, is anticipated to make its debut on the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026. This development places Samsung in direct competition with rival chip manufacturer TSMC, which is also reportedly working on its own 2nm node, though neither company has provided details regarding the timeline for production readiness. If the reports hold true, the Exynos 2600 chip could contend with the purported Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, MediaTek Dimensity 9500, and Apple’s A19 Pro chips. Additionally, it might serve as the successor to the Exynos W1000 chip, purportedly slated to power the successors to the Galaxy Watch 6 series expected later this year.

Speculation suggests that the rumored Exynos 2600 chip may incorporate a Cortex X6 ‘Prime’ core from Arm, a feature potentially shared with the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip, while Apple and Qualcomm typically utilize custom chip cores. Earlier reports indicated Samsung’s plans to unveil the Galaxy S25 series next year, equipped with a 3nm Exynos 2500 chip, potentially offering enhanced performance compared to the speculated Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC. However, Qualcomm’s plans regarding its next flagship mobile processor and its node architecture remain undisclosed at present.
