Samsung One UI 6.1 Update Hits Galaxy S22 Series, Galaxy S21 Series, Older Foldables

New Delhi: Samsung has commenced the rollout of One UI 6.1 to its flagship Galaxy smartphones from 2021 and 2022 in South Korea. This Android 14-based custom skin introduces numerous enhancements and a range of AI features to the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy S21 lineup, and preceding Galaxy foldable models. However, it’s noted that older devices may not receive the complete Galaxy AI suite. The One UI 6.1 update was initially unveiled in January alongside the launch of the Galaxy S24 series and subsequently extended to the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 in March. According to reports on Samsung community forums, the rollout now encompasses the Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 4.

Presently, the update is being deployed to eligible devices in South Korea, with a broader rollout anticipated across other regions in the near future. With this latest update, Samsung’s flagship S series and Z series smartphones from 2021 and 2022 gain access to Galaxy AI features, although some older models may receive a limited set of features. User reports suggest that features like Circle to Search are included in the One UI 6.1 update for devices such as the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. Furthermore, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 appears to be receiving enhancements like AI-generated wallpapers and generative AI-powered editing, among others.

To manually check for the update, users in South Korea can navigate to Settings > Software update > Download and Install. Given the substantial size of the update, approximately 3GB, it is advisable to perform the update while connected to a robust Wi-Fi network. The rollout of One UI 6.1 follows the preinstallation of the software on the Galaxy S24 family in January. Samsung initiated the update rollout for the Galaxy S23 family, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and other devices in late March, with plans to extend it to additional older devices like the Galaxy Tab S8 series in the near future.
