Tata Curvv spy shots preview expected features
New Delhi: The Tata Curvv will be the brand’s first all-new SUV in three years, following the launch of the Punch in 2021. This highly anticipated midsize SUV-coupe is a unique proposition due to its distinctive body style and the fact that it will debut as an electric vehicle (EV) by this festive season, with petrol and diesel variants expected later this year or early next year.
In the fiercely competitive midsize SUV segment, currently dominated by the Hyundai Creta, the Curvv will need to distinguish itself with standout features. Tata Motors aims to equip the Curvv with several upmarket features borrowed from the Harrier and Safari to ensure it competes effectively against well-established and feature-rich rivals. Recent spy shots of the Curvv provide a glimpse of these expected features, reinforcing its potential as a strong contender in the segment.
Tata Curvv to borrow some features from Harrier
Latest spy shots reveal new details about the upcoming Tata Curvv SUV, highlighting expected features and equipment while confirming previously seen elements. The Curvv, spied during testing, features the four-spoke steering wheel from the Harrier, a larger 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring, similar to the Nexon EV. The model showcased at this year’s Bharat Mobility show also confirmed the presence of a panoramic sunroof, which is likely to be included in the Nexon as well.
Additional features anticipated for the Curvv include ventilated seats, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, dual-zone climate control, a 6-way powered driver’s seat with memory and welcome functions, height-adjustable front seat belts, and switchable ambient lighting. The spy shots also reveal an electronic parking brake, engine drive modes with a circular drive selector on the center console, 18-inch alloy wheels, and flush-fitting door handles. Top-spec Curvv models are expected to include Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) as seen in the Harrier and Safari, along with gesture-controlled boot opening.
Tata Curvv: shared powertrain
The Tata Curvv will share several components with its stablemates. The Curvv EV will utilize Tata’s acti.ev architecture, first seen in the Punch EV, and may feature a ‘frunk.’ It is expected to offer up to 500 km of range on a single charge. The Curvv diesel variant will incorporate the 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine from the Nexon.
In its petrol version, the Curvv will debut Tata’s new 1.2-litre three-cylinder TGDi engine, anticipated to produce 125 hp and 225 Nm of torque. This engine will be available with both manual and automatic transmission options. Additionally, a CNG-powered Curvv is expected to be introduced at a later date.
