Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition Unveiled as Premium Dealer-Level Upgrade
New Delhi: Toyota has introduced a new iteration of its robust seven-seater SUV, named the Fortuner Leader Edition. This variant is based on the diesel 4×2 models and incorporates several additional features along with exterior enhancements. During the launch event, Toyota also announced that it has achieved sales of over 2.5 lakh Fortuners in India since its debut in 2009.
The official pricing for the Fortuner Leader Edition has not been disclosed yet, with Toyota indicating that prices will vary based on the specific accessories added at the dealership to meet individual requirements. Anticipate the Leader Edition to be priced slightly higher than the standard Fortuner 4×2 variants, which are currently priced between Rs 35.93 lakh and Rs 38.21 lakh.
Buyers opting for the premium variant can expect dual-tone seat covers, a tire pressure monitoring system, auto-folding outside rear view mirrors (ORVMs), and a wireless charging pad. The Fortuner Leader Edition also showcases new black alloy wheels and is offered in three dual-tone color options: Super White, Platinum Pearl White, and Silver Metallic, all accentuated with contrasting black elements. Notably, the Leader Edition stands out with its new front and rear bumper spoilers, which are officially listed as accessories and installed by dealers.
Available exclusively in the 4×2 configuration, the Fortuner Leader Edition is powered by the 204hp, 2.8-liter diesel engine, delivering 500Nm of torque with the 6-speed automatic transmission and 420Nm with the manual gearbox.
Continuing its rivalry with contenders like the MG Gloster, the Fortuner will also face the resurgence of an old competitor, the Ford Endeavour, likely to be reintroduced as the Everest in its next iteration.
