Toyota Rumion G AT launched at Rs 13 lakh

New Delhi: Toyota has recently expanded the Rumion MPV lineup in New Delhi by introducing a new mid-spec automatic variant. Initially available solely with a 5-speed manual gearbox, the Rumion G now offers buyers the option of a 6-speed automatic transmission. Priced at Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom), the Rumion G AT commands a premium of Rs 1.40 lakh over its manual counterpart. Bookings for this variant have already begun, requiring an initial deposit of Rs 11,000.

Toyota Rumion G AT: (what’s new?)

The Rumion MPV, offered in three trims – S, G, and V, previously limited the automatic gearbox option to the base-spec S and top-spec G variants. However, with the recent update, the automatic transmission is now available across all trims. The G AT variant is priced Rs 1.06 lakh higher than the S AT and Rs 73,000 less than the top-spec V AT.

In terms of features, the G AT mirrors its manual counterpart. It includes enhancements over the base S trim such as two-tone alloy wheels, dual-tone seat fabrics, keyless entry and go, automatic climate control, a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, front fog lights, and Toyota’s in-car connectivity suite. However, it lacks certain amenities found in the S variant, such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, side airbags, and a rear camera.

Toyota Rumion: (powertrain and specs)

Under the hood, the Toyota Rumion gets Maruti’s 103hp, 137Nm, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, and comes mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. In CNG-spec, the same engine produces 88hp and 121.5Nm, and only gets the manual gearbox option.

Crucially, Toyota has reopened bookings for the Rumion CNG variant that’s available on the base-spec S trim. Earlier in September last year, the company had temporarily halted bookings for the Rumion CNG citing “overwhelming demand”, with waiting periods extending up to a year in certain places.

The Rumion MPV is priced between Rs 10.44 lakh – Rs 13.73 lakh (ex-showroom, India), and rivals the likes of the Maruti Ertiga, XL6 and the Kia Carens.
