Volkswagen ID.4 Set to Make India Debut in Fourth Quarter of 2024
New Delhi: According to insider sources, Volkswagen is set to launch its inaugural electric vehicle (EV) in India, the Volkswagen ID.4, in the fourth quarter of calendar year 2024.
The ID.4 will make its entry into the Indian market as a completely built-up (CBU) model and will initially be offered in a single configuration. With multiple powertrain options available internationally, including single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive, the ID.4 boasts a claimed range of up to 480km on a single full charge. Alongside this new electric offering, Volkswagen currently markets models like the Virtus mid-size sedan, Taigun mid-size SUV, and Tiguan premium SUV in India.
Volkswagen’s domestic sales experienced an 8% increase, reaching nearly 43,700 units in CY23 compared to around 40,600 units in CY22. While metro cities contributed approximately 65% to the sales, Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets accounted for the remaining 35%.
