WhatsApp Set to Introduce AI-Generated Profile Photos Feature
New Delhi: WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new feature that will enable users to create AI-generated profile photos on Android smartphones. The feature, named AI Profile Photos, is currently in the development phase and is not yet available to beta testers registered through the Google Play Beta Program. According to the report, the AI Profile Photos feature will allow users to generate personalized images using artificial intelligence, tailored to match their interests, personalities, and moods.
AI Profile Photos on WhatsApp:
According to a report by WhatsApp update tracker WABetaInfo, the instant messaging platform is testing an AI Profile Photos feature in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.11.17 update. This feature will allow users to create personalized AI-generated profile photos. Additionally, it was spotted alongside another feature that enables users to create personalized stickers based on descriptions provided by the user using AI.
Based on screenshots, users would provide a prompt describing the desired image on a new page called Create AI Profile Picture. The feature would then generate a customized photo matching the description. This functionality is speculated to offer users an alternative to sharing their profile photos, potentially reducing the risk of unauthorized usage. While still under development, this feature represents one of several new additions reportedly in progress for WhatsApp on Android. Another anticipated feature involves AI-powered stickers to enhance messaging experiences. Additionally, recent reports suggest WhatsApp is exploring a function allowing users to clear their unread message count. However, it’s worth noting that not all features tested ultimately make it to the public release of WhatsApp. Furthermore, updates are typically rolled out gradually, meaning availability may vary among users.
