Himachal Pradesh’s Bhohat Kasol Set to become The Next Big Destination for Adventure Seekers
New Delhi: Nestled in the serene Bilaspur district, the village of Bhohat Kasol is on the brink of a remarkable transformation. This picturesque locale, near the Kol Dam, has attracted the attention of Deputy Commissioner Abid Hussain Sadiq and a team of administrative officials. They envision Bhohat Kasol as a vibrant rural tourism destination, leveraging the steady waters of Kol Dam, which offer a unique year-round tourism opportunity.
A comprehensive action plan is being developed to bring this vision to life. The goal is to create a destination that offers visitors over 20 adventure activities while immersing them in the authentic rural lifestyle of the region. This initiative aims to provide a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of urban life, offering a tranquil escape for city dwellers.
Recent trends in Himachal Pradesh’s tourism landscape underscore the potential of such destinations. Lesser-known areas, like Solan, have recently overtaken traditional hotspots like Shimla in popularity. This shift reflects a growing appreciation for the state’s hidden gems. In 2024 alone, Himachal Pradesh saw a 3.5% increase in tourists, with over 74 lakh visitors between January and May. Notably, the number of foreign tourists rose significantly from 23,174 in 2023 to 32,415 in 2024, highlighting the region’s growing global appeal.
As the plans for Bhohat Kasol progress, the village is set to become a prime example of sustainable rural tourism. This development promises to boost the local economy while preserving the area’s rural charm, making it an ideal destination for adventurers and peace-seekers alike.
