Amazon Worker Busted in Alleged Theft Scheme
New Delhi: A criminal complaint has been filed before the Economic Offences Wing Police Station in Hyderabad against an Amazon Hyderabad based employee Mr. Venkateshwarlu from the Indian payroll. The complaint alleges that the employee misappropriated approximately INR 3,22,04,456/- (Rupees Three Crores Twenty-Two Lakhs Four Thousand Four Hundred and Fifty-Six Only) by transferring funds into 50 bank accounts belonging to accomplices, thereby depriving 184 ex-employees/inactive employees of their rightful dues. An FIR bearing No. 04/2024 was registered on 03 April 2024 under offenses of dishonest misappropriation of property, criminal breach of trust etc. under section 403,408,420,467,468,471,477-A, 201, r/w 120b of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.
Following a preliminary investigation, the Economic Offences Wing Police Station arrested the accused on 20 May 2024 from the outskirts of Hyderabad. Subsequently, the ACP, Economic Offences Wing Police Station has requested the presence of two company officials from Amazon’s office to sign as independent witnesses on the arrest memo.
