BMW Group India Sets Sales Record, Dominates Luxury Electric Car Market in 2023

New Delhi: In a remarkable achievement, BMW Group India roared into 2023 with its best-ever annual sales across all three brands – BMW, Mini, and BMW Motorrad. The luxury automaker not only saw a substantial 18% year-on-year growth but also solidified its position as a leader in the luxury electric car segment.

Breaking Down the Numbers:

Total BMW Sales: BMW sold an impressive 13,303 units in 2023, marking an 18% YoY growth. SUVs, or as BMW calls them, Sport Activity Vehicles (SAVs), claimed the lion’s share with 54%, surpassing sedans at 46%.

Top Performers: The BMW X1 led the pack with 2,633 units, followed closely by the BMW X7 at 1,513 units. Among sedans, the BMW 3 Series took the crown with 2,702 units.

Luxury Electric Cars: BMW dominated the luxury electric car segment, boasting over 50% market share with 1,474 units sold – an astounding 325% YoY growth. The BMW iX emerged as the best-selling luxury electric car, clocking in at 694 units.

Mini’s Rise: Mini witnessed a 22% YoY growth with 869 units sold. The locally-produced Mini Countryman stole the spotlight with 478 units, while the electric Mini 3-Door Cooper SE claimed the title of the highest-selling premium electric hatchback in India with 239 units sold.

Overall Success: Combining BMW and Mini sales, BMW Group India achieved a total of 14,172 units in 2023, a substantial 18% YoY increase.

Two-Wheel Triumph: BMW Motorrad showcased stellar performance, recording a 20% YoY jump with 8,768 units sold in 2023. The BMW G 310 range dominated, contributing 88% of the sales.
