Introducing the all-new Ford F-150 Raptor, showcasing its latest advancements.
New Delhi: The redesigned F-150 Raptor boasts an impressive front-end redesign, with a striking blacked-out grille and impactful LED headlights that draw inspiration from the F-22 Raptor fighter jet. The “power dome” hood features a new heat extractor and functional side vents, while the taillights also receive the blacked-out treatment. Optional features include a tailgate applique with the large ‘Ford’ text. Built for toughness, both the front and rear bumpers are made of steel, with the rear bumper designed for high clearance and tucking the dual exhaust tips beneath the truck. The Raptor also sports a wider front skid plate and the option for integrated Rigid off-road lights in the front bumper.
Inside, the all-new Ford Raptor presents a revamped interior highlighted by dual 12-inch screens. One screen serves as a customizable digital instrument cluster, while the other houses the infotainment system. The cabin features an all-new steering wheel with aluminum paddle shifters and aluminum trim on the doors, instrument panel, and center console. Additional options include carbon fiber interior trim and luxurious Recaro seats. The Raptor comes equipped with Ford’s Sync 4 infotainment system, FordPass connected car technology, and the ability to receive over-the-air updates. Notable tech features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, an 18-speaker Bang and Olufsen stereo, a 360-degree parking camera, and cruise control.
Powering the 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor is a revised version of the twin-turbo 3.5-liter Ecoboost V6 engine, paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission. While exact power figures have yet to be revealed, Ford assures that they will be similar to the previous model’s output of 450 horsepower and 691Nm of torque. Every new Raptor model comes with a standard electronic locking rear differential, with the option for a Torsen front limited-slip differential for improved maneuverability.
Excitingly, Ford has confirmed the development of the highly-anticipated Raptor R model, which will feature a V8 engine and is set to debut in the near future, expanding the Raptor lineup.
Off-road enthusiasts will appreciate the new Raptor’s advanced off-road technologies. The Terrain Management System offers seven driving modes (Slippery, Tow/Haul, Sport, Normal, Off-Road, Baja, and Rock Crawl), adjusting various performance aspects such as steering feel, stability control, and throttle mapping. A unique feature for the Raptor is the Trail 1-Pedal Drive system, simplifying control in extreme off-road situations by combining acceleration and braking into the accelerator pedal.
When it comes to the exterior, Ford offers a choice between 35 or 37-inch tires for the new Raptor. Opting for the 37-inch tires provides impressive ground clearance (13.1 inches) and approach, departure, and breakover angles of 33.1, 24.9, and 24.4 degrees, respectively, enhancing off-road capability.
While no official news has been released regarding the availability of the new Raptor in India, Ford plans to introduce the outgoing Ranger Raptor as a completely built unit (CBU) in the market. The testing of the pickup truck in India suggests its potential arrival. Despite the dissolution of Ford’s joint venture with Mahindra, both companies intend to proceed with their original plan to manufacture a mid-size C-SUV and other models in India.
In summary, the redesigned Ford F-150 Raptor offers notable improvements in its exterior design, interior features, powertrain, off-road capabilities, and advanced technologies. Ford’s commitment to innovation and performance is evident in this latest iteration of the iconic performance truck.
