MG Comet experiences a HUGE price reduction! Explore the updated pricing details.

New Delhi: MG Motor India has made a significant move to enhance the accessibility of electric vehicles (EVs) in the Indian market. The company has announced substantial price reductions for its small EV, the MG Comet EV, positioning it as a more affordable option in the electric car segment. The price cuts range from ₹99,000 to ₹1.40 lakh, with revised prices of ₹6.99 lakh, ₹7.88 lakh, and ₹8.58 lakh (ex-showroom) for the three trim options: Pace, Play, and Plush.

The entry-level Pace trim now offers a noteworthy reduction of ₹99,000, reducing the price from ₹7.98 lakh to ₹6.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Similarly, the mid-level Play and top-level Plush trims have seen a substantial price cut of ₹1.40 lakh. The Play trim is now priced at ₹7.88 lakh (ex-showroom), down from ₹9.28 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Plush trim is available at ₹8.58 lakh (ex-showroom), reduced from ₹9.98 lakh (ex-showroom). Notably, the top-level Plush trim of the MG Comet EV now falls below the entire price range of the Tata Tiago EV.

MG Motor India, a subsidiary of SAIC, aims to boost passenger vehicle sales in 2024 by strategically aligning itself with the growing demand for EVs and personal mobility. This move is intriguing, as it counters the price hikes announced by other automakers like Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors, who face rising production costs associated with increasing raw material expenses.

The MG Comet EV features a 17.3 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 230 kilometers on a single charge. Its electric motor, situated at the rear axle, delivers a peak power of 41 bhp and a maximum torque of 110 Nm. In addition to the MG Comet EV, the larger MG ZS EV has also undergone price reductions, making electric mobility more accessible. The price tag for the ZS EV now ranges from ₹18.98 lakh to ₹24.98 lakh (ex-showroom), marking a significant step in broadening its audience.

Overall, MG Motor India’s decision to reduce prices for the MG Comet EV and the MG ZS EV comes at a crucial time, aiming to make EVs more affordable and cater to the increasing demand for environmentally friendly transportation solutions.
