New Kawasaki Eliminator Makes Its Debut in India, Priced at INR 5.62 Lakh
New Delhi: India Kawasaki has finally introduced the highly anticipated Eliminator motorcycle to the Indian market, unveiling a cruiser that had been generating excitement for quite some time. The 2024 Kawasaki Eliminator, which was originally showcased worldwide in June 2023, has made a comeback with a powerful 451cc parallel-twin engine, derived from the Ninja Z400. This stylish urban cruiser is available in a single color option, Metallic Flat Spark Black, and has been launched with a price tag of Rs 5.62 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries of the motorcycle are set to commence from mid-January 2024.
The design of the Eliminator embraces a classic cruiser silhouette, drawing inspiration from the renowned Vulcan 650. Its neo-retro aesthetic features elements like a round LED headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and a megaphone exhaust. The cruiser prioritizes rider comfort with a wide one-piece handlebar and neutral footpeg position, promoting a relaxed and upright riding posture. The circular LCD instrument panel adds a touch of modernity, offering features such as a digital speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, coolant temperature display, maintenance reminder, gear position indicator, clock, odometer, two trip meters, range, and Bluetooth connectivity through the Rideology app for calls and notifications. Safety features include dual-channel ABS, smartphone connectivity, a slip-and-assist clutch, and Kawasaki’s ergo-fit technology, allowing riders to customize seat height and footpeg placement.
Built on a new lightweight trellis frame, the Eliminator boasts a design reminiscent of classic motorcycles, resulting in a relatively low seat height of 734 mm for improved accessibility, particularly for shorter riders. The suspension setup comprises a 41-mm telescopic fork at the front and a twin-shock arrangement at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a 310-mm semi-floating disc at the front and a 220-mm disc at the rear. Staying true to its customary long and low design, the Eliminator comes equipped with 18-inch front and 16-inch rear 10-spoke alloy wheels. The tire profile measures 130/70-18 at the front and 150/80-16 at the rear.
Underneath its sleek exterior, the Eliminator features a powertrain derived from the Z400, a 399 cc parallel-twin unit that has been modified to achieve a displacement of 451 cc by increasing the stroke length by 6.8mm. This engine delivers a maximum power output of 44 bhp at 9000 rpm and peak torque of 46 Nm at 6000 rpm. The power is transmitted through a 6-speed transmission and an assist-and-slipper clutch system, ensuring smooth gear transitions.
In the Indian market, the Eliminator faces competition from rivals such as the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 and the Harley-Davidson X440 in terms of displacement and cruiser offerings.
