Renault Kiger new sporty variant in works
New Delhi: Renault India is looking to expand the Kiger compact SUV’s line-up with a sporty variant similar to Hyundai’s Venue N Line that was introduced back in 2022. However, unlike the Korean brand’s compact SUV, the sportier Kiger is unlikely to get mechanical changes, and sport merely cosmetic changes over the standard model.
The specifics of the design changes are currently undisclosed; however, we anticipate the inclusion of customary contrasting accents on select body panels and brake calipers. Moreover, potential modifications to the front and rear bumpers are expected, with the possibility of Renault adopting its new logo. While interior alterations are projected to be minimal, a complementary sportier theme akin to the exterior may be introduced. It is anticipated that the sportier variant of the Kiger will derive from the top-spec RXZ variant, thereby inheriting its features and safety specifications.
Given its sportier disposition, it is probable that Renault will exclusively offer this version with the 100hp, 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, eschewing the 72hp, 1.0-liter naturally aspirated option. The availability of both the 5-speed manual and CVT automatic transmissions remains undisclosed.
Pricing for this new iteration is expected to slightly exceed the current range of Rs 10.23 lakh to Rs 11.23 lakh for the top-spec RXZ Turbo variant.
