New Delhi: The Toyota Prius clinches the prestigious title of 2024 World Car Design of the Year, triumphing over fierce competitors Ferrari Purosangue and Ford Bronco. The announcement took place at the highly anticipated 2024 World Car Awards ceremony, held during the New York International Auto Show.
Yasushi Ueda, Chief Engineer for the Prius, shared insights into the design process, emphasizing the team’s dedication to crafting a vehicle that resonates emotionally with consumers. He expressed gratitude for the recognition, highlighting the Prius’s appeal as not just a rational choice, but also an exhilarating driving experience.

A distinguished panel of six world-renowned design experts meticulously evaluated each candidate before shortlisting recommendations for the jurors’ final vote. The panel comprised industry luminaries such as Gert Hildebrand, Patrick le Quément, Tom Matano, Victor Nacif, Shiro Nakamura, and Frank Stephenson.
The top three contenders for the 2024 World Car Design of the Year were unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show, where the latest-generation Toyota Prius faced off against the Ford Bronco and Ferrari Purosangue. Following a rigorous voting process, the Prius emerged as the deserving recipient of the prestigious award, solidifying its status as a benchmark in automotive design excellence. This accolade follows the Hyundai Ioniq 6’s triumph in the same category the previous year.
