India beat Australia by six wickets in its first match of 13th Men’s ODI World Cup.

Delhi: India’s men’s cricket team defeated Australia by six wickets in their opening match of the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023. India scored 201 runs in 41.2 overs as Australia set a goal of 200 runs, losing four wickets in the process. India won because to KL Rahul’s unbroken score of 97 and Virat Kohli’s 85 runs. Player of the Game was awarded to KL Rahul. 

Opting to bat first, Australia were all out at 199 in 49.3 overs. For India, Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets.

India put up a clinical show against Australia in Chennai on Sunday (October 8) to get their World Cup campaign off to a winning start. India’s spin trio of Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and R Ashwin posed problems on a surface that was on the slower side to keep Australia to 199 before KL Rahul and Virat Kohli starred in the chase.
