CWC2023: Stokes shines in big win for England.

Delhi: England overcame the Netherlands by 160 runs, thanks to the bowling of spinners Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid, who each took three wickets. With this victory, England can consider finishing in the top eight of the World Cup and qualifying for the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Opting to bat, England posted 339 for 9 and then returned to bowl out the Dutch for 179 runs in 37.2 overs to keep their Championships Trophy qualification hopes alive. England suffered a middle-order collapse yet again but this time, Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes saved them. Woakes scored 51 while Stokes smashed an 84-ball 108. In reply, Teja Nidamanuru (41 not out) was the top scorer, while Wesley Barresi (37), Sybrand Engelbrecht (33), Scott Edwards (38) failed to capitalise on the starts.

England have made two changes to their playing XI with Gus Atkinson and Harry Brooks coming into the side for Mark Wood and Liam Livingstone. England have endured a disastrous World Cup campaign, winning just 1 of their 7 matches so far, losing to the likes of Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. Jos Buttler’s side lost all hope of reaching the semi-finals when they were beaten by arch-rivals Australia by 33 runs in Ahmedabad.
