Delhi: India has registered a dominating victory against England in a low-scoring match in Lucknow on October 29. Batting first, the Rohit Sharma-led side had scored 229/9, which was considered to be a below-par total. However, the Indian bowling attack bowled out the English side for 129 in 34.5 overs.. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma scored 87 runs. Suryakumar Yadav also played a crucial game, scoring 49 runs for the team at a vital juncture. This is India’s sixth consecutive victory. Mohammed Shami took 4 wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah claimed 3.
England was on the backfoot right from the powerplay, as they lost the wickets of Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root and Ben Stokes in the first 10 overs. This was followed by the wicket of Jos Buttler in the 15th over, and the dismissal of Moeen Ali in the 25th over. At halfway down the innings, England were at 84/6. The lower order also failed to stitch a partnership, with the team getting bundled up at 129 in the 35th over.
The 2019 champions sit bottom of the 10-team table with four defeats from five matches.
