IND beat AUS by 44 runs, extend lead to 2-0

Delhi: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan, and Ruturaj Gaikwad shone with impressive fifties, leading India to a commanding 44-run victory over Australia in the second T20I in Thiruvananthapuram. This win gives India a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

Jaiswal’s quick 53, coupled with Kishan’s 52 and Gaikwad’s 58, powered India to a formidable total of 235/4. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi’s 3/32 disrupted Australia’s batting, limiting them to 191/9 despite efforts from Tim David and Marcus Stoinis.

Pacer Prasidh Krishna’s three-wicket haul sealed the victory as Australia lost five wickets for just 16 runs. India’s strong performance showcased their dominance in the series as they look ahead to the remaining matches with confidence.

Australia had a sluggish start, losing three wickets in the powerplay to Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel. Bishnoi dismissed Matthew Short and Josh Inglis, while Axar Patel removed Glenn Maxwell. Prasidh Krishna then ousted Steve Smith. Marcus Stoinis and Tim David provided resistance with an 81-run partnership, but Bishnoi dismissed David, and Mukesh Kumar removed Stoinis. Australia’s momentum waned, losing quick wickets. Despite some late hitting from Matthew Wade, it wasn’t enough, and India secured the win. Bishnoi and Prasidh Krishna took three wickets each, while Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel, and Mukesh Kumar claimed one each.
