IND beat NZ by 70 runs, enter in to the final of worldcup2023

Delhi: India delivered another impressive performance, securing a convincing victory over New Zealand by a margin of 70 runs to advance to the final of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup. The team batting first posted a formidable score of 397/4 in 50 overs, and subsequently restricted New Zealand to 327 in 48.5 overs. India will now face either South Africa or Australia in the upcoming final.

India finished with a high score against New Zealand in the first World Cup semi-final as Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer slammed tons to lead India to 397 runs. The Kiwis need 398 runs to win against India and qualify for the World Cup 2023 semi-finals.

Virat Kohli created history at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai as he surpassed legendary cricket Sachin Tendulkar with 50th ODI century. He also became the second Indian batter to have a World Cup 100 against New Zealand after Sunil Gavaskar. 

Mohammed Shami produced another clinical effort with the ball and scalped seven of the ten wickets. The pacer got the breakthrough with his first ball of the match and then dismissed Rachin Ravindra in his very next over. Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell then established the Kiwi innings and have stitched a 150-plus stand for the third wicket. the bowler redeemed himself as the game progressed and provided India with a double blow. He first removed Williamson for 69(73) and then trapped Tom Latham LBW for 0(2). Mitchell, who has already slammed a ton, then held fort with Glenn Phillips and added over 50 runs for the fifth wicket. Bumrah then got rid of Phillips for 41(33) in the 43rd over, and Kuldeep Yadav removed Mark Chapman in the next over.

Shami then dented New Zealand’s hopes completely as he removed Daryl Mitchell for 134(119) in the 46th over, before adding two more wickets to his tally.

Rohit’s India are the highest-ranked side in the ICC World Cup points table with 9 wins from their 9 matches so far. However, the Indian team management will be cautious as the Men in Blue were also the highest-ranked side in the 2019 tournament when they lost to the Kiwis by 18 runs in the semi-finals
