New Delhi: Neeraj Chopra, India’s star javelin thrower, continues to make headlines after winning a historic silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Instead, Chopra has chosen to remain in Europe, training rigorously in Magglingen, Switzerland, alongside his coach Klaus Bartonietz and physio Ishaan Marwaha.

Neeraj’s determination is evident as he prepares for his next big competition. In a recent interaction facilitated by JSW, Neeraj’s confirmed his participation in the upcoming Lausanne Diamond League, scheduled to begin on August 22. This decision came as a surprise to many, given the reports that Neeraj’s might have stayed back in Europe to consult a doctor regarding his injury. However, Chopra was quick to clarify the situation.

“Luckily, the Paris Olympics went well, and I didn’t have much difficulty with my injury. So I thought of completing the season and taking the doctor’s advice regarding treatment afterwards,” Chopra explained. He emphasized that his decision to stay in Europe was driven by his commitment to finish the season strong, rather than any immediate health concerns.

Neeraj’s also shared his plans for the future, stating that he would return to India at the end of September, after the season concludes. Upon his return, he intends to consult a doctor about his groin issues, which have been a concern but have not hindered his Olympic performance.
