Shubman Gill’s Century in Vain, IND Lose to BAN By 6 Runs.

Delhi: Shubman Gill smashed a century, his fifth in ODI cricket and first while chasing as he looked to put India on charge of the chase of 266.

Despite winning the toss, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma chose to field against Bangladesh. Batting first, the Bangladesh batters could not match the Indian pacers and lost their wickets early.

However, a partnership by a 100-runs partnership between Shakib Al Hasan and Towhid Hridoy helped Bangladesh set a challenging score of 265 ahead of India.Shardul Thakur (3/66) was the most impressive — but also the most expensive — of all Indian bowlers, as Mohammed Shami (2/32), Prasidh Krishna (1/43), Axar Patel (1/47), and Ravindra Jadeja (1/53) were all among the wickets in the innings. Shami took the opening wicket early for India and they kept the pressure on Bangladesh throughout the initial few overs.Bangladesh skipper Shakib scored a whopping 80 runs in 85 balls under pressure and he was supported by Towhid Hridoy who hit 54 in 81 balls. Another batter who contributed was Nasum Ahmed(44). By the end of 50 overs, Bangladesh managed to put a chasing target of 266 runs for India.

India had to score 266 runs at a run rate of 5.4 RPO. Ever since the beginning of the innings, Indian batters faced difficulties with Bangladesh bowlers. India lost their initial wickets within  couple of overs.Tilak Varma were dismissed early by Tanzid Hasan, KL Rahul scored 19 runs while Suryakumar Yadav also added 26 runs whereas Ishan Kishan could only score five runs. Later, Mustafizur Rahman, Mahedi Hasan, skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz ensured Indian batters couldn’t run at will. For Bangladesh,  Mustafizur Rahman took 3 wickets, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Mahedi Hasan picked two wickets each, while Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz clinched one wicket each.
