Smriti Mandhana

New Delhi: India’s vice-captain, Smriti Mandhana, has climbed to the 3rd position in the latest ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings. The updated rankings, released on August 20, reflect her impressive performance and consistency in the 50-over format.

Top-Ranked Indian Batter in ODIs

With 738 rating points, Mandhana is now the highest-ranked Indian batter in the ODI format. Her recent form has been exceptional, highlighted by three consecutive scores over 50 during India’s series against South Africa in June. Mandhana’s stellar performance in that series, which included two centuries and a near-century, has propelled her to this career-high ranking.

T20I Rankings and Other Changes

In addition to her success in ODIs, Mandhana maintains her 4th spot in the ICC Women’s T20I Rankings. Indian team captain Harmanpreet Kaur remains at 9th in the ODI batting rankings.

Sri Lankan Cricketers on the Move

The ICC rankings have seen significant changes among Sri Lankan cricketers as well. Chamari Athapaththu, once a top contender, has slipped to 4th place, while Nilakshika de Silva has moved up to 32nd. Harshitha Samarawickrama has advanced to 44th, and Kavisha Dilhari has climbed to 50th. In T20Is, Samarawickrama’s innings of 65 against Ireland has elevated her to 13th place, and Gaby Lewis has achieved a career-high 21st position following her 119-run knock.

Mandhana’s Milestone and Recent Performances

Mandhana’s recent achievements include surpassing 7000 international runs during the ODI series against South Africa, making her the second-highest run-scorer for India, only behind Mithali Raj. Her form has continued to shine in international cricket, solidifying her status as a leading player.

Following the South Africa series, the Indian team competed in the Asia Cup 2024, where they finished as runners-up to hosts Sri Lanka.
