Despite both teams already securing a spot in the Super 8, the two-time champions West Indies showcased their batting prowess, piling up an imposing total of 218 for five. Pooran was the star of the innings, unleashing a six-hitting spree to score a blistering 98 off 53 balls, including 8 sixes and 6 fours.
Afghanistan’s decision to bowl first quickly proved costly as Pooran took full advantage, dominating the bowlers and setting a challenging target. His aggressive innings set the tone for the West Indies, with significant contributions from other batsmen ensuring a formidable total.
Chasing 219 for victory, Afghanistan struggled to cope with the scoreboard pressure. They were bowled out for 114 in 16.2 overs, falling well short of the target.
