Apple Plans to Release Much Thinner iPhone 17 in 2025
New Delhi: Apple is set to release a much thinner iPhone 17 in 2025, marking a return to its older design philosophy of slimmer devices. According to reports from Bloomberg and The Information, the Cupertino-based tech giant aims to introduce a significantly thinner model internally dubbed “D23.” This model could undergo a major redesign, reminiscent of the iPhone X transformation.
The anticipated iPhone 17 Slim will feature a 6.1- to 6.7-inch screen and is expected to include an aluminium chassis, an A19 chip, and an improved front camera. Interestingly, rumours suggest Apple may replace the current Dynamic Island with a smaller hole-punch design, potentially starting with the iPhone 16 series. This design shift indicates Apple’s intent to slim down the device’s internal components rather than just trimming the edges.
Apple’s focus on thinner products aligns with recent trends seen in its other devices. The latest M4 iPad Pro showcases Apple’s commitment to sleek designs. However, the move towards thinner devices is a notable shift from recent years, where Apple has made its products slightly thicker to accommodate larger batteries and enhanced performance. For example, the MacBook Pro became thicker to house bigger batteries, more powerful processors, and additional ports. Similarly, the Apple Watch introduced a heavier Ultra model with extended battery life and more features.
While the iPhone 17 Slim is still in the testing phase, reports suggest it could be a premium addition to the lineup, potentially priced higher than the Pro Max variants. However, as with all rumors, it’s advised to take this information with a grain of salt, as delays could push the release beyond 2025. If it arrives on time, it could signify a major milestone in Apple’s design evolution.
