Google Finds Indian Partner for Pixel 8!
New Delhi: Great news for Indian Pixel fans! Google is finally joining the “Make in India” initiative. The tech giant has partnered with Dixon Technologies, a local contract manufacturer, to produce the Pixel 8 in India. This move is expected to bring Pixel phones closer to Indian consumers.
Industry sources reveal that Dixon is gearing up for a production capacity of 100,000 Pixel 8 units per month, with plans to export some of them. This aligns with Google’s strategy to recapture market share in India, a crucial market where the Pixel 8 is a leader. Previously made in Asia, Pixel devices will now benefit from India’s production incentives, making them more competitive.
While official confirmation is pending, reports suggest Padget Electronics, a subsidiary of Dixon Technologies, will handle manufacturing. Padget recently partnered with Compal Electronics, a Google collaborator, to facilitate this process.
The Pixel 8 boasts a premium design with a vivid 6.2-inch OLED display. The Google Tensor G3 processor ensures smooth performance, backed by 8GB of RAM for efficient multitasking. The dual camera system features a powerful 50-megapixel main sensor and an ultrawide sensor for capturing expansive landscapes. A long-lasting 4575 mAh battery keeps you powered throughout the day.
While the Pixel 8 reigns supreme currently, Google is gearing up to launch its next-gen Pixel series later this year. This lineup might include four variants: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the exciting Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Google’s first foldable phone.
Release is expected in early October. The Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL might sport larger screens, while the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is rumored to be foldable. A new Tensor G4 processor with an improved modem for faster 5G and a potentially upgraded camera system are also on the horizon, but details remain unconfirmed. Prices are expected to range from $699 for the Pixel 9 to $1799 for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
