New Delhi: Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on August 29, 2024. The event kicked off with an AI-generated Mukesh Ambani taking the stage, setting the tone for an AI-driven theme. “AI is the most evolutionary progress for the human race,” stated RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani during his opening address, emphasizing the company’s commitment to AI development.
AI Integration and JioBrain
Ambani announced that the company has built an AI-native digital infrastructure for all Reliance businesses, aiming to accelerate India’s transformation into a deep tech nation. “AI has become integral to everything we do,” Ambani said, highlighting Jio’s integration of AI across all processes and services to enhance customer experiences.
Ambani introduced “JioBrain,” a comprehensive suite of tools and platforms that span the entire AI lifecycle. This suite enables the company to accelerate AI adoption, offering better insights and services. Company’s new motto, “AI for everyone, everywhere,” reflects its commitment to making AI accessible to all, not just on premium devices.
Jio AI-Cloud Welcome Offer
Ambani also unveiled the AI-Cloud Welcome Offer. Starting Diwali this year, users will receive up to 100 GB of free cloud storage to securely store and access photos, videos, documents, and other digital content. Ambani promised the most affordable cloud storage prices for those needing additional space.
Jio Home Services
Reliance also announced its venture into home entertainment with TVOS and the JioHome app. TVOS, a new operating system for set-top boxes, offers a personalized and immersive home entertainment experience. The system supports Ultra HD 4K video, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos. The App Store provides diverse apps for lifestyle, fitness, and education, while Jio’s IoT solutions enable smart homes managed through the JioHome app.
PhoneCall AI
The comapny is developing PhoneCall AI, a service that simplifies AI use in phone calls. This service can record and store calls in its Cloud, transcribe conversations, summarize them, and even translate them into other languages. It also supports hearing-impaired users by converting speech to text.
Jio’s Growth and Achievements
Ambani highlighted the company’s impact on India’s digital landscape, stating, “Jio has transformed India into the largest data market, carrying 8% of global mobile traffic.” Jio now boasts 490 million users, with each user averaging 30GB of data per month—a 33% year-on-year increase. The company also has over 30 million users of its digital broadband and television services, making it one of the largest home service providers globally.
Ambani also shared that True 5G now covers every corner of India, with 130 million users. Additionally, Reliance added 1.7 lakh jobs last year, bringing its total headcount to 6.5 lakh employees.
