MG Hector Introduces Affordable Trims, Lowers Starting Price to Rs 14 Lakh
New Delhi: MG Motor India has introduced new trims to its Hector lineup, aiming to provide customers with more affordable options. The Shine Pro and Select Pro trims have replaced the Shine and Smart variants, respectively. The starting price of the Hector has been reduced to Rs 14 lakh, making it Rs 95,000 lower than before. This marks the second price revision for the Hector in the last six months.
The Shine Pro trim offers additional features compared to its predecessor. It includes LED Daytime Running Lamps, LED projector headlights, sequential LED turn indicators, fog lights, 17-inch alloys, a 14-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, digital instrument cluster, sunroof, wireless charger, push-button start, and cruise control. The petrol variants are now more affordable by up to Rs 44,000, while the diesel variant is slightly more expensive.
Moving up, the Select Pro trim adds even more features such as larger 18-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, interior LED reading lights, connected car features, and an 8-speaker sound system with woofer and amplifier. Prices for the Select Pro variants are higher than the outgoing Smart variants.
The Hector Plus also receives new trims, with the Select Pro replacing the Smart trim. Prices for the petrol and diesel variants have increased by Rs 25,000 and Rs 20,000, respectively. Additionally, a new entry-level Style trim is introduced, available only in diesel-manual guise and priced at Rs 17 lakh.
Both the MG Hector and Hector Plus are powered by either a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 143hp or a 2.0-litre diesel engine generating 170hp, with transmission options including a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox.
In terms of competition, the MG Hector competes with models like the Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, and Mahindra XUV700, while the Hector Plus rivals the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and 7-seater XUV700.
