Motorola’s New Flip Phone Folds In: June 25th Launch Confirmed
New Delhi: The foldable phone market in India is heating up! After launches from Samsung, OnePlus, Oppo, and Vivo, Motorola is poised to enter the ring. The company has released a teaser video hinting at the arrival of new foldable devices.
The 10-second teaser offers a brief look at two foldable phones. These phones are expected to boast a variety of color options, with one sporting a more prominent camera bump. The video concludes by showcasing a stack of phones in different colors, hinting at a potential color palette for the new devices. Most importantly, the teaser reveals the launch date: June 25th, with China being the first market to receive them. Details regarding an Indian launch remain unclear.
While Motorola hasn’t officially confirmed the names, reports suggest these could be the latest iterations of the iconic Razr flip phone. The rumored Razr 50 and Razr 50 Ultra might bring significant upgrades, including advanced AI features and larger cover screens. Leaks suggest three color options for the Razr 50 and four for the Ultra variant.
Leaked details hint at impressive improvements in the 2024 models. Both Razr 50 and Razr 50 Ultra are expected to boast a 120Hz pOLED main screen, with the Ultra potentially offering a slightly larger 4-inch cover screen boasting a 165Hz refresh rate. Enhancements are also expected in the camera department, with both phones potentially featuring a 50-megapixel main sensor. The Razr 50 might come with a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens, while the Ultra could boast a 2x telephoto camera.
Under the hood, the Razr 50 might be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300x 5G processor, while the Ultra might utilize the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8S processor. Potential improvements in RAM and storage capacity could further elevate these devices in the foldable phone market.
Despite the upgrades, pricing is expected to remain similar to previous models. The Razr 50 is anticipated to be priced around $700, while the Razr 50 Ultra might cost around $1,000. Following the China launch, a global event is expected to bring these phones to other markets, potentially before Samsung’s next Galaxy Z Flip reveal on July 10th.
