NASA Tracks Three Asteroids Approaching Earth: All Expected to Pass Safely
New Delhi: NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) has announced that three significant asteroids will make close passes by Earth between August 10 and August 12. Despite their proximity, these asteroids pose no threat to our planet.
The largest asteroid, approximately 610 feet across—comparable in height to a tall skyscraper—will make its closest approach on August 10, coming within 5.6 million kilometers of Earth. NASA has confirmed that this flyby is entirely safe.
On the same day, asteroid 2024 PK1, measuring around 110 feet, will pass Earth at a distance of 6.4 million kilometers. Additionally, asteroid 2024 ON2, about 120 feet in diameter, will approach Earth on August 12, coming within 6.8 million kilometers.
NASA and other space agencies are closely monitoring these asteroids to ensure Earth’s safety. All current observations indicate that these celestial objects will pass by without causing any harm, allowing Earth to remain secure during their passage.
