New Diesel SUVs Set to Launch in the Upcoming Months

New Delhi: Despite the slowdown in sales of diesel cars and SUVs in some segments in India, many carmakers are preparing to introduce new diesel-powered SUVs in the market. Diesel SUVs have maintained their dominance, with models like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos still enjoying significant demand for their diesel variants. Here’s a look at five upcoming diesel SUVs from Hyundai, Mahindra, Tata and MG Motor India that are set to hit the roads in the coming months.

Mahindra XUV300 Facelift

Expected Price: Rs 10 lakh-15 lakh

Launch: Early 2024

Engine: 1.5-litre diesel

Mahindra’s compact SUV, the XUV300, is about to be refreshed with cosmetic updates aligned with the new Mahindra SUVs. The cabin will see refinements and feature enhancements, while the 1.5-litre diesel engine will continue with manual and AMT options.

Tata Curve

Expected Price: Rs 14 lakh-20 lakh

Launch: Mid 2024

Engine: 1.5-litre diesel

Tata’s upcoming midsize SUV-coupe, Curve, will be powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine that will produce 115hp and 260Nm of torque. It will have a unique SUV-coupe design and is expected to compete with rivals from different segments.

Mahindra Thar 5 Door

Expected Price: Rs 16 lakh-20 lakh

Launch: Mid 2024

Engine: 2.2-litre diesel

The Thar 5-door variant will retain the 2.2-litre diesel engine from its 3-door counterpart, offering 132hp. It will come with both manual and automatic gearbox options and boast of unique design elements and additional features.

Hyundai Alcazar Facelift

Expected Price: Rs 17 lakh-22 lakh

Launch: Mid 2024

Engine: 1.5-litre diesel

Hyundai’s Creta seven-seat sedan Alcazar will receive the same styling updates and interior enhancements as the refreshed Creta. It will continue to offer the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine with manual and automatic gearbox options.

MG Gloster Facelift

Expected price: Rs 40 lakh-44 lakh

Launch: End 2024

Engine: 2.0-litre diesel

Set to be facelifted after four years in the market, the Gloster SUV will get exterior changes, updated styling elements and additional features. It will retain the 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine with both 2WD and 4WD options.

These upcoming diesel SUVs aim to cater to the diverse preferences of Indian consumers and continue to offer diesel options amid the changing market trends.
