New Honda Amaze To Likely Launch Around Diwali This Year
New Delhi: Honda is readying the third generation of the Amaze for India, expected to debut by Diwali 2024. As per our sources, the next-gen Amaze will be based on the same platform as the City and Elevate, albeit with some modifications including a shorter wheelbase. Design for the updated sedan will likely be inspired by bigger Honda sedans sold abroad, while the cabin is also expected to be thoroughly upgraded.
The Japanese auto major first introduced the Amaze in April 2013 and is in its second generation, which debuted in May 2018. The sub-four-metre sedan has been recording good sales numbers over the years but the popularity of the segment in general has fallen resulting in reduced average sales on a monthly basis. The segment continues to be led by the Dzire.
The next-gen Amaze will retain the current 1.2-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that puts out 90hp and 110Nm torque. The engine is available with a 5-speed manual transmission, and an optional CVT. The sedan will continue to face competition from Hyundai Aura, Tata Tigor, as well as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire which is also set to receive a generational update very soon.
