Nitin Gadkari launches Volvo CE’s electric revolution at EXCON 2023

New Delhi: In an unprecedented step towards sustainable construction practices, Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari officially launched Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) India’s extensive lineup of electric machines at EXCON 2023, South Asia’s premier construction equipment event. This marks a significant advancement in Volvo CE’s commitment to sustainability, reflecting its dedication to transforming the construction equipment landscape.

The star of the showcase was the EC500 Electric, India’s first grid-connected electric excavator in the 50-tonne class, leading the way towards zero-emission mining and construction machinery. The event also unveiled the L120 electric wheel loader, a pioneering pilot launch with no tailpipe emissions and near-quiet operation, setting a new standard for material handling at various sites.

Volvo CE demonstrated its technological potential with the EC80 Electric, a near-production prototype that offers improved performance with an autonomy of 6-8 hours. Additionally, the India-developed electric compactors, DD40 and PT220, showcased advanced features and exemplified Volvo CE’s commitment to sustainable local solutions.

The company’s champion 20-ton excavator, the EC210D, exemplified performance and productivity beyond electric innovation. Volvo CE emphasizes its dedication to customer success through new age service solutions, including the innovative Equipment as a Service (EaaS) business model. This value-added service combines state-of-the-art equipment with efficiency measures, easing the transition to electric machines by addressing concerns about capital costs, skilled manpower and technology updates.

Dimitrov Krishnan, Managing Director, Volvo CE India, highlighted the company’s commitment to shaping the future of manufacturing. The boom in the Indian earthmoving equipment market aligns perfectly with Volvo CE’s mission to be a catalyst for positive change, offering innovative electric solutions and comprehensive sustainability support. The CII Excon 2023 showcase underlines Volvo CE’s determination to lead the industry towards a greener, more sustainable future.
