OnePlus 15 Leaks: Flat Display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, and AI-Powered OxygenOS 15

OnePlus 15: The Next Flagship Smartphone
The OnePlus 15 is expected to launch this fall with a host of exciting upgrades. Before you raise eyebrows — where’s the OnePlus 14? Well, there may not be one because “4” is mostly considered inauspicious in some Asian cultures. Which is why the successor to the OnePlus 13 may very well be the OnePlus 15. At this point, it’s only been mere months since the launch of the OnePlus 13 in India. However, looking from the Chinese launch perspective, the phone was unveiled in October 2024, and considering the tech giant intends to launch the OnePlus 15 around October this year, we are now less than five months away.
Having said that, you may think — the OnePlus 13 is already a pretty much complete smartphone. What better can they do with the OnePlus 15? Well, “new year, new upgrade” is the name of the game, and according to the latest leaks, the next-generation flagship is shaping up to be very solid.
Display
According to Digital Chat Station, the biggest change that will come to the OnePlus 15 is a flat display. I don’t know about you, but personally, I am someone who is a fan of pure flat displays — not just for their aesthetics, but also for practical reasons. The display is tipped to be a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with a 1.5K resolution. The resolution is a bit of a downgrade, considering the OnePlus 13 comes with a 2K (QHD+) display. On the bright side, the bezels are expected to be ultraslim and symmetrical, much like we’ve come to see on iPhones.
Performance
Another big detail is the presence of the SM8850 chipset under the hood, which is heavily rumoured to be the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor. In a recent leak, the chipset had an AnTuTu score of 3.8 million and showed a 25 per cent jump in Geekbench 6 testing. The chipset is rumoured to be fabricated on TSMC’s 3nm (N3P) process node. Considering the OnePlus 13 comes with up to 24GB RAM and 1TB storage, the newer model could also likely come in a similar range of configurations.
Camera
The OnePlus 15’s camera system is poised to deliver exceptional photography capabilities, building upon the foundation set by its predecessor, the OnePlus 13. While official specifications are yet to be confirmed, credible leaks and industry trends suggest significant advancements in both hardware and software.
Triple Rear Camera Setup
The OnePlus 15 is expected to feature a triple rear camera system, comprising:
- Main Camera: A 50MP Sony LYT-808 sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), offering sharp and detailed images.
- Ultra-Wide Camera: A 50MP Samsung JN5 sensor with a 120° field of view, ideal for expansive landscapes and group shots.
- Periscope Telephoto Lens: A 50MP Sony LYT-600 sensor with a 3x optical zoom and OIS, ensuring clear and stable long-distance shots.
This configuration aligns with the OnePlus 13’s camera system, which also utilized a 50MP periscope telephoto lens.
Design
Finally, there’s no clear mention of the design, although the leak does say that the phone is going to feature a simple and thin design. By simple, it could signify the phone having a flat display and not a curved or a quad-curved one. As for being slim, the OnePlus 13 comes with a thickness of 8.5mm. Can we expect the OnePlus 15 to be even slimmer while packing a larger battery? Only time will tell.
Battery
Having said all of this, we’d suggest you take each and every detail in this article with a healthy grain of salt. Despite the chances of the OnePlus 15 launching in China by October (given OnePlus follows the same launch pattern as the 13), do keep in mind that we are still about five months away from the unveiling. There’s a good chance a lot could change by then.
As we move forward, more information about the OnePlus 15 will keep pouring in. Stay tuned to India Today Tech for all the latest.
