New Delhi: Stellantis’ Peugeot brand is stepping up its game with a futuristic addition: ChatGPT voice assistants in their cars and vans. This move, announced on Tuesday, follows the footsteps of competitors like Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz, who are also embracing the power of AI chatbots.
The Plan:
According to Jerome Micheron, Peugeot’s Product Plan Director, ChatGPT will be integrated into all Peugeot vehicles, including the upcoming e-3008 model and small commercial vans. The aim? To enhance the voice assistant experience for drivers.
Pilot Launch:
Peugeot is kicking off a pilot version of the ChatGPT service in five countries: France, Britain, Germany, Italy, and Spain. This version will be capable of connecting to vehicle controls and providing answers to a range of general or navigation-related questions. The plan is to make this service a standard feature by the end of the year.
Following the Trend:
Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen have already dipped their toes into the ChatGPT waters. Mercedes started a trial in the US last year, aiming for more natural responses to driver queries. Volkswagen is set to integrate ChatGPT into its voice assistant by mid-year.
Electric Incentives:
In addition to the tech upgrade, Peugeot is sweetening the deal for electric car enthusiasts. The e-3008 will come with an impressive eight-year warranty, a significant jump from the current two-year warranty offered on Peugeot cars. This move aims to encourage more drivers to go electric.
In essence, Peugeot’s adoption of ChatGPT marks a step forward in car technology, making the driving experience smarter and more interactive than ever before.
