Tecno Unveils Revolutionary Phantom Ultimate 2: World’s First Tri-Fold Smartphone

New Delhi: Foldable phones are gaining popularity, offering the versatility of both a traditional smartphone and a larger screen for multitasking. But Tecno is pushing the boundaries even further with the introduction of the Phantom Ultimate 2, its first tri-fold smartphone concept.
Tecno’s Tri-Fold Marvel
Tecno recently showcased a video of the Phantom Ultimate 2, a device that promises to redefine mobile technology. Although this concept phone isn’t ready for store shelves, it provides an exciting preview of what the future holds.
When folded, the Phantom Ultimate 2 looks like a typical smartphone with a 6.48-inch display. However, unfold it, and the device transforms into a massive 10-inch LTPO OLED screen with a 1,620 x 2,880px resolution and a 4:3 aspect ratio. This tri-fold design could potentially disrupt the tablet market, as larger foldable phones may render tablets unnecessary except in the budget segment.
Cutting-Edge Features
The company has integrated TDDI technology in the Phantom Ultimate 2, which merges the display driver and touch sensor into one chip, enhancing touch responsiveness. The device also features a screen hovering capability and remains impressively thin at just 11mm when folded. Tecno has tested the folding mechanism for 300,000 folds, ensuring durability and minimising screen creases.
Additionally, the Phantom Ultimate 2 boasts the thinnest battery cover ever seen on a smartphone, at just 0.25mm. The device offers various modes, including a laptop mode with a foldable keyboard, a tent mode for face-to-face conversations, and multi-window support for seamless multitasking.
A Glimpse Into the Future
While Tecno has not yet announced a commercial release date for the Phantom Ultimate 2, its debut marks a significant evolution in the foldable market. With Huawei also set to launch its tri-fold smartphone soon, the future of mobile technology is unfolding rapidly.
