ISRO’s Final Developmental Mission Launches from Sriharikota Spaceport
New Delhi: ISRO successfully launched its third and final developmental flight on Friday, the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle-D3 (SSLV-D3), from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, approximately 135 km east of Chennai. The rocket, carrying the Earth Observation Satellite EOS-08, lifted off at the scheduled time of 9:17 am from the first launch pad, marking a significant milestone for the Indian space agency.
The SSLV-D3 mission is a crucial step in ISRO’s ongoing efforts to enhance its capabilities in launching small satellites into low Earth orbit. The primary objectives of this mission include the design and development of a microsatellite, EOS-08, and the creation of payload instruments that are compatible with the microsatellite bus. These objectives are aligned with ISRO’s broader strategy to provide cost-effective and efficient launch solutions for smaller payloads, which are increasingly in demand globally.
