Skoda Kushaq Onyx Gets Automatic Transmission Option !
New Delhi: Skoda India has expanded the Kushaq lineup with the introduction of an automatic transmission for the Onyx edition. This new variant caters to buyers seeking a balance between features and affordability.
Engine and Transmission:
The Kushaq Onyx AT is powered by the familiar 1.0-liter, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that produces 115 horsepower and 178 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, providing a smoother and more convenient driving experience compared to the manual transmission offered on the standard Onyx variant.
Pricing and Features:
Skoda has positioned the Kushaq Onyx AT competitively at Rs 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a compelling option for budget-conscious buyers seeking an automatic SUV. Notably, all Kushaq variants, including the Onyx AT, come equipped with six airbags as standard, prioritizing passenger safety.
Feature Highlights:
The Onyx trim occupies the middle ground between the Active and Ambition variants in the Kushaq lineup. It inherits several features from the higher-end Ambition variant, such as Skoda’s signature crystalline LED headlamps with a static cornering function for enhanced illumination while turning corners. The rear section boasts a practical rear wiper and defogger for improved visibility in adverse weather conditions. Additionally, the Onyx edition gets distinctive ‘Tecton’ wheel covers and ‘Onyx’ badges on the B-pillars for a touch of personalization.
Automatic-Specific Enhancements:
The automatic transmission-equipped Kushaq Onyx caters to driver convenience with paddle shifters for manual gear selection and hill-hold control to prevent the vehicle from rolling back on inclines.
Interior Comfort and Convenience:
The cabin features a two-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel with a chrome scruff plate adorned with the ‘Onyx’ badge. Automatic climate control ensures consistent cabin temperature, while Onyx-themed cushions and textile floor mats add a touch of exclusivity.
Skoda introduced the Onyx edition in the first quarter of 2023, and the addition of the automatic transmission further expands its appeal to a wider audience.
