New Delhi June 26, 2024: A terrorist was killed during an encounter with security forces in the forest area of Bajaad village in the Gandoh region of Doda District, Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred amidst heightened security operations following recent terrorist attacks in the district.

On Wednesday, an encounter between security forces and terrorists took place in a forest area of Bajaad village in the Gandoh region of Doda district. The gunfight began around 9:50 am during a coordinated search and cordon operation conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
According to police officials, the exchange of fire was still ongoing when the latest reports were received. An Army helicopter was also seen hovering over the area, providing aerial surveillance to support the ground forces.

The operation in Doda follows a series of terrorist attacks in the district earlier in June:
- June 11 Attack: Six security personnel were injured during a terrorist attack at a joint check post in Chattargalla.
- June 12 Incident: A policeman was injured in a gunfight with terrorists at Kota top in the Gandoh area.
In response to these attacks, security forces intensified their anti-terrorism operations across the district. Authorities announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakhs each for four Pakistani terrorists believed to be operating in the area.

As part of the intensified operations, security forces launched an operation in the Sinoo panchayat area. During this operation, they faced heavy fire from hiding terrorists, which led to the ongoing encounter in the forest area of Bajaad village.
Additionally, a patrolling party of security forces recovered a Chinese hand grenade from the village of Pind in the Chingus area of Rajouri district. The grenade was found late Tuesday evening, further indicating the heightened threat level in the region.
