Model School Infrastructure Revamp Completed in Gurugram GIC Re and Ennoble inaugurate 5 Government Schools,Impacting 4600+ Students and 140+ Teachers

Gurugram, May 8, 2025: In a significant stride towards inclusive and quality education, General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC Re), in partnership with its CSR implementation agency Ennoble Social Innovation Foundation, has successfully completed a comprehensive infrastructure revamp of five government schools in Gurugram, Haryana. The initiative is set to benefit over 4,600 students and more than 140 teachers, giving them access to vibrant, safe, and child-friendly learning environments.

For Ennoble, this has been an important project in terms of direct beneficiaries, reflecting its strength in delivering scalable transformation across government school systems.

The five schools transformed under this project – Government Model Sanskriti School, Bhimnagar; Government Senior Secondary Girls School, Kasan; Government Senior Secondary School, Nawada-Fatehpur; Government Primary School, Islampur; and GMSPS, Fazilpur Jharsa, were inaugurated today.

For years, these schools struggled with crumbling infrastructure, non-functional toilets, damaged flooring, unsafe classrooms, and a lack of essential facilities such as clean drinking water, proper lighting, and adequate furniture. Beyond the physical, the emotional environment too suffered – children lacked a sense of joy and dignity in their everyday learning spaces.

With Ennoble’s deep experience in creating enriching learning ecosystems, the intervention went beyond surface-level improvements. Structured around its Child-Friendly Model School Framework—inspired by national and international guidelines – NEP 2020 & UNICEF, Ennoble’s approach focused on six pillars: Inclusivity, Security, Health & Hygiene, Effective Learning, Gender Sensitivity, and Community Involvement.

Transformation That Touches Lives

Each intervention was aligned to improve a key aspect of the school experience, not just for students but also for teachers and the surrounding communities.

1. Integrating Technology & Holistic Development:

  • Scope Covered – STEAM Labs, libraries, and a science lab were installed at the Civil Lines campus to enhance hands-on and inquiry-based learning. Educational signage and innovative learning materials were introduced to support engaging instruction, while inclusive and adaptive learning spaces were created to cater to diverse learner needs.
  • Expected Outcomes: These interventions will help students build stronger 21st-century skills, reinforce digital and experiential learning, and improve access to tools for holistic development.

2. Enhancing Educational Infrastructure:

  • Scope Covered – The infrastructure improvements undertaken included extensive structural repairs such as plastering, crack filling, and ceiling and floor repairs, alongside waterproofing and tiling. The schools also received a complete electrical overhaul, with new wiring, fans, lights, and safe switchboards installed throughout the premises. Classrooms and corridors were refurbished to create a more engaging and functional learning environment.
  • Expected Outcomes: These enhancements are expected to result in safer, better-lit classrooms that stimulate student engagement and improve teacher effectiveness. Additionally, the incorporation of visual triggers like wall art has enabled more contextual learning, which is anticipated to lead to enhanced academic performance.

3. Promoting Health and Hygiene:

  • Scope Covered – The schools underwent significant upgrades to their sanitation and hygiene facilities, including the construction of new sanitation blocks with hand washing points and the upgrading of existing toilets. Drinking water stations were also constructed in three schools.
  • Expected outcomes: These interventions are expected to reduce absenteeism due to illness, cultivate lifelong hygiene practices, and create safer, healthier school environments for all genders.

4. Creating Joyful Learning & Play Spaces:

  • Scope Covered – The classroom furniture was refurbished, and computer room setups were completed to enhance the learning experience. Play equipment, strategy games, musical instruments, and interactive wall art were added to foster creativity and engagement. Additionally, medicinal and educational gardens were developed to enrich the school’s environment.
  • Expected Outcomes: These interventions are expected to boost students’ creativity, imagination, and cognitive development, improve their physical and mental well-being through active play, and foster a stronger emotional connection to school.

Chirag Bhandari, CEO, Ennoble Social Innovation Foundation, shared: “By elevating these schools to meet national and international standards through our interventions, we intend to set a new benchmark for government schools—making them comparable to private institutions. Through these improvements, we anticipate enhanced academic performance, increased student retention, and greater overall satisfaction among students and staff, fostering a sense of pride and ownership within the school community.”

Mrs. Jayashri Balkrishna, General Manager from GIC Re added: “GIC’s dedication to sustainable community development and educational empowerment deeply resonates with Ennoble’s vision of creating vibrant learning ecosystems in government schools. This partnership presents an opportunity to transform education for underserved communities, reflecting GIC’s values and long-standing commitment to nation-building.”

A teacher at one of the transformed schools, shared emotionally: “Earlier, children would hesitate to use the washrooms. Today, they proudly show their classrooms and playgrounds to visiting parents. These small changes have brought a big shift in their attitude towards learning.”

This transformation stands as a shining example of how corporate-community partnerships can uplift the public education system. By blending corporate resources with grassroots implementation expertise, the model fosters sustainable impact that reaches beyond infrastructure—into the very heart of communities, building dignity, hope, and aspiration.
