Bollywood’s Ranbir Kapoor Faces Complaint for Christmas Celebration Video
New Delhi: Bollywood actors often make headlines for their controversial actions, and this time, Ranbir Kapoor has stirred up a bit of controversy with a Christmas celebration video that’s caught attention.
A complaint has been filed against Ranbir Kapoor and his family members for allegedly hurting religious sentiments in a viral video from their Christmas celebration. In the viral footage, Kapoor pours liquor on a cake and ignites it while chanting “Jai Mata Di.”
The complainant, Sanjay Tiwari, asserts that the act was disrespectful to Hindu traditions as, in Hinduism, the fire god is typically invoked before other deities. Kapoor’s use of intoxicants while celebrating a different religious festival while chanting “Jai Mata Di” reportedly offended Tiwari’s religious sentiments.
Despite the uproar, no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in the case yet. The video, shared on social media, captures a moment from the Kapoor family’s Christmas lunch, where Ranbir Kapoor, accompanied by Alia Bhatt, engaged in the customary Christmas flambé tradition.
While the controversy brews, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have recently shared glimpses of their life, including their daughter Raha, born in November, and their attendance at Christmas gatherings.
The complaint, filed by advocates Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra, demands action under specific sections of the Indian Penal Code. However, the police are yet to make any official filings in the matter.
The incident has sparked discussion about respecting religious sentiments while engaging in celebrations that cross cultural boundaries. Ranbir Kapoor, known for his acting prowess, finds himself in the spotlight for reasons beyond his reel life this time around.
