Salesforce India Drives Innovation for a Sustainable Future on Earth Day

New Delhi: This World Earth Day, Salesforce, the renowned leader in CRM solutions, has launched an unprecedented effort called “Reboot the Earth”. This series of climate-focused innovation hackathons, launched in collaboration with five UN agencies, is set to begin in Hyderabad.

“Reboot the Earth” aims to convene a diverse range of participants, including young computer programmers, administrators, architects, individuals familiar with the Salesforce ecosystem, scientists, and other enthusiasts. Together, they will brainstorm and develop solutions to tackle the serious climate crisis facing our planet today.

With sustainability deeply embedded in its core values, Salesforce has recently unveiled several initiatives aimed at combatting climate change. Through its India CSR grants, the company has undertaken various projects to address environmental challenges, particularly in the realm of afforestation.

One such initiative is the Malligavad Foundation Project, which focuses on enhancing water retention capacity and implementing natural sewage treatment methods for the betterment of community health and the environment. Additionally, the project involves planting native saplings using the Miyawaki method, thereby expanding urban green spaces and contributing to climate change mitigation efforts.

Another notable project is the Miyawaki Afforestation Project, which has transformed a former dump yard into a green oasis in Thane. Through this initiative, thousands of saplings have been planted to increase urban green cover, promote biodiversity, and sequester carbon, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals.

The Solar Blazer Project, in collaboration with the Youth of India Foundation, aims to provide sustainable solar energy solutions to rural communities in Telangana. By establishing microgrids and promoting renewable energy sources, the project not only reduces CO2 emissions but also empowers marginalized tribal villages by offering green skills training.

Sanket Atal, Managing Director – India Operations, Site Lead – Technology & Product, Salesforce India, emphasized the company’s commitment to a sustainable future. He highlighted Salesforce’s proactive role in driving the nature-positive movement and leveraging technology to effect positive change.

“Reboot the Earth” provides a dynamic platform for innovators to develop open-source digital public goods addressing local climate crises. Participants will utilize various technologies, including open data, AI, and Salesforce tools, to build solutions over two days. The winning team at each event will receive support funds, an opportunity to attend the official awards ceremony in NYC, and pro bono mentorship from Salesforce and its partners.

The India event of “Reboot the Earth” is scheduled to take place in Hyderabad on May 22nd and 23rd. Interested individuals can sign up for the event through the designated platform. For more information, refer to the Event FAQ section.

As Salesforce India spearheads initiatives for a sustainable future, it underscores the collective responsibility to safeguard our planet and ensure a healthier, more resilient environment for future generations.
