Hyundai Alcazar facelift launch delayed this season
New Delhi: Following the updated Creta, Hyundai’s next big launch this year will be the Alcazar facelift. The SUV has been spied testing on our roads before, and although we reported its launch is slated for some time in mid-2024, the launch has been delayed by a few months, means the Alcazar facelift is now expected to arrive by September-October 2024.
Hyundai Alcazar facelift: why is it delayed?
The Alcazar, a midsize offering from Hyundai, has experienced relatively slower sales performance, averaging around 1,500 units per month. This figure stands in stark contrast to the Creta, which consistently achieves sales exceeding 10,000 units monthly, particularly since the introduction of its facelift in January of the current year. Notably, prior to the refreshed midsize launch, Hyundai dealers frequently directed potential Alcazar customers towards the Creta, leveraging the incentive of significantly shorter waiting periods. Consequently, inventory levels of the outgoing Alcazar have accumulated substantially. To address this, Hyundai has opted to postpone the launch of the Alcazar facelift by several months, aiming to facilitate the clearance of existing stock of the outgoing model.
Hyundai Alcazar facelift: what to expect?
The upcoming iteration of the Alcazar is poised to receive significant updates inspired by the new Creta model. Anticipated exterior enhancements include a split headlamp configuration, complemented by a redesigned front grille and bumper. Additionally, the tailgate is expected to undergo a makeover, featuring a wraparound design with horizontally positioned connected tail-lamps. Given the subtle visual disparities between the pre-facelift Alcazar and the Creta, the extent of differentiation in the new model remains a point of interest. Internally, the refreshed Alcazar is likely to adopt the updated dashboard design introduced in the Creta facelift, potentially incorporating the new connected-screen layout. The vehicle is anticipated to be offered in both six- and seven-seat configurations, consistent with previous iterations. Notably, a key enhancement to the equipment roster will be the inclusion of the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite, aligning with the updated features of the new Creta model.
Hyundai Alcazar facelift: No powertrain changes
The Alcazar already gets the 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and also the 116hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine, and both are expected to carried over as is; their respective manual and automatic gearboxes will also be carried forward unchanged.
Upon launch, the Alcazar will continue to rival the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 and the MG Hector Plus. Expect a marginal bump up in price for all the updates.
