Mahindra Thar Armada enters final testing phase
New Delhi: The Mahindra Thar Armada (Thar 5-door) is nearing the final phase of testing, with a recent sighting of a test mule near ARAI’s facility in Pune indicating an imminent launch. The latest test mule, which appears to be the top-tier variant of the upcoming Thar Armada, is outfitted with new 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Previous spy shots have confirmed that there will be three different wheel options available.
Additionally, a recent image reveals the inclusion of a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, sourced from the new XUV 3XO. Compared to the Thar 3-door, the new Thar Armada will feature a revamped grille, redesigned bumpers, a rear wiper, and a remote fuel-filling cap. The vehicle will also be equipped with LED lighting throughout, a fully digital instrument cluster, push-button start-stop functionality, front and rear center armrests, a sunroof, and rear AC vents, among other modern conveniences.
Mahindra Thar Armada: expected powertrains
The Thar Armada is expected to borrow the Scorpio N’s 175hp, 2.2-litre diesel and 203hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol powertrains considering the added weight over the 3-door version. The lifestyle SUV will be available with both 4WD and 2WD options.
Mahindra Thar Armada: launch timeline, expected pricing
The Thar Armada will be Mahindra’s next big launch in India after the XUV 3XO. It will arrive in the second half of this year, and will likely carry a slightly higher price point compared to the Scorpio N, which means it could be priced from around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
