Unveiling the Impossible: Yes, You Can Still Buy a Brand New Car under Rs 6 Lakh!

New Delhi: With car prices skyrocketing in recent years, a multitude of factors, including semiconductor shortages, increased input costs, and stringent regulations, have driven up the costs. However, the search for affordable transportation persists. Limited options remain for those seeking a sub-Rs 6 lakh on-road (OTR) budget. Among the popular choices are the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Maruti S-Presso, and Renault Kwid, offering an affordable driving experience without compromising the budget. HERE’S THE LIST :

Maruti Suzuki Alto K10

The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 features a 1.0-litre K10C petrol engine, delivering 67PS and 89Nm of torque. It offers a choice between a 5-speed manual transmission (MT) or a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). Additionally, a CNG variant is available, generating 57PS and 82Nm, paired with a 5-speed MT.

While acquiring the CNG option under Rs 6 lakh (OTR) might require a substantial carmaker offer, buyers can explore the available petrol options within the budget.

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, another budget-friendly option, shares similar powertrains with the Alto K10.

With a price range of Rs 4.26 lakh to Rs 6.11 lakh (ex-showroom), the top-spec variants, whether petrol or CNG, exceed the Rs 6 lakh (OTR) limit. Nonetheless, buyers can explore lower and mid-spec variants to find options within their budget.

Renault Kwid

Renault’s most cost-effective offering in India is the Kwid, priced between Rs 4.69 lakh and Rs 6.44 lakh (ex-showroom).

Equipped with a 1.0-litre petrol engine, the Renault Kwid delivers 68PS of power and 91Nm of torque. Buyers within a Rs 6 lakh (OTR) budget can explore the lower and mid-spec variants of this entry-level hatchback, available with a choice of a 5-speed manual transmission (MT) or a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT).

Previously, the Kwid included a more economical option with a 0.8-litre petrol engine, which has since been discontinued.
